1. Chubu Centrair International Airport — Tax refund procedure overview

At Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO), you can complete the customs confirmation for your tax-free purchases at the customs confirmation kiosks in the airport, or with Visit Japan Web (VJW).

If you use Visit Japan Web, you can complete the procedure on your own smartphone from the dedicated Wi-Fi area in the airport.

Please complete the customs confirmation before checking your tax-free purchases in with your airline. How your refund is paid after the customs confirmation depends on the store and the refund operator.

2. Customs kiosk and refund counter locations

Customs confirmation kiosks

At Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO), kiosks for the customs confirmation of tax-free purchases are installed in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

Terminal 1 (T1)

Customs kiosk: In front of the international check-in counters

Customs inspection area: In front of the international check-in counters (look near the customs kiosks)

Terminal 2 (T2)

Customs kiosk: At the "CIQ Information Corner" next to the check-in counters

Customs inspection area: On the way from the "CIQ Information Corner" to the security checkpoint

Hours: 10:00–21:30 (opens according to flight schedules)

Please complete the customs confirmation before checking your tax-free purchases in with your airline.

With Visit Japan Web (VJW), you can also complete the customs confirmation on your smartphone from the dedicated Wi-Fi area in the airport.

Cash refund locations

Under the new tax refund system starting November 1, 2026, cash refund terminals will be installed at Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO).

At Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO), cash refund terminals of Cash Japan are provided. You can receive cash only for purchases made at tax-free stores that are covered by that refund operator.

Terminal 1 (T1)

Location: 2 locations in the duty-free shop area (after immigration)

Cash refund terminals: 5 near immigration (Cash Japan)

Staffed refund counter: Near Gate 20

Terminal 2 (T2)

Location: Right after exiting immigration (refund-only kiosks)

Hours: 10:00–21:30 (opens according to flight schedules)

Notes on cash refunds

To receive a cash refund, you must complete the customs confirmation in advance.

Refund methods differ by store and refund operator, so please check when you buy whether a cash refund at the airport is available.

If you choose a refund method other than cash, such as a credit card or electronic payment, follow the instructions of the store or refund operator.
